The Oyster Tribe

Have you noticed how very few organizations, unless they are involved with seafood, use an oyster as their logo?

The main reason is that oysters do not do anything. They sit on the bottom of the ocean or river, with their mouth open, calling out “Feed me, feed me.” It’s not very inspiring as an example. The only time they produce something of value, like a pearl, is if something starts to irritate them. A grain of sand makes them uncomfortable, so they cover it up and a pearl is formed.

The internet has brought forward many wonderful things for us to explore and experience but there are some downsides. The mental or moral, cripples who make and spread viruses are one example. Another is the number of people who have developed a ‘something for nothing’ attitude, like the oyster. “Feed me, feed me” they cry, “Give me everything for nothing.”

Why would anyone want to get something that has no value? Why would anyone think that they should get something of value for nothing? Where else in your life does that happen as a regular occurrence?

Please expect there to be an energy exchange, it may not always be money, offer some creative suggestions but do not devalue the work that has gone into making an internet offering by expecting to just be given it.
